5Dimes Lotto900 is a ‘bet on the lottery’ numbers game. The odds are far better here than any US state-run lottery and you actually bet on the pick 3 and pick 4 games in any state you want to. The payouts are about 80% higher, or nearly double what your state lotteries pay because 5Dimes is simply setting the odds rather than buying physical lottery tickets for players.
Since it is a straight odds sort of game, you can even parlay other sports wagers with your lottery picks for a bigger payday if online sports betting is legal in your jurisdiction.
One difference between Lotto900 and state-run pick 3, or pick 4 games is that you are NOT putting your money into a parimutuel pool with the lottery operator giving actual returns of 42% to 50%. With 5Dimes it is more like fixed odds with a set payout for any given combination and nearly double the amount your local state drawing would pay for the top combination.
Considering the fact that you will be choosing state lotteries with completely random results, it is more important to look at the types of bets available than it is to look at where the numbers will be generated to get started.
There are generally two types of bets – straight and box – with 3 ways to bet on Lotto900 Pick 3 and 5 possible bets on Pick 4 games. A straight bet is any 3-digit or 4-digit number from 000 to 999 or 0000 to 9999. These bets have the highest payouts but they are also the hardest to predict a winner as they have to be in the exact order. A pick 3 straight bet will pay 900 to 1 on odds of 1,000 to 1. Your state lottery will only pay $500 because the big lottery companies rarely pay out more than half of all bets on a game.
The biggest payout you can expect from a $1 bet on Lotto900 is $9,000 for a straight pick 4 entry. Pick any 4-digit number from 0000 to 9999 and if the state pick 4 you choose to bet on comes up with the same numbers in the exact same order (1 chance in 10,000) you will collect a 9,000 to 1 payout! Still only 10% to the book instead of at least 50% to the lottery operators and state.
The ‘box’ bets are 3 or 4 digit numbers that can match the drawn numbers in any order. There are two box bets in the Pick 3 game and four in a Pick 4 draw. I will look at Pick 3 first for the purpose of illustration.
A 6-Way Box bet on Pick 3 must have 3 different numbers, such as 123 rather than 113 in order to conform to the odds. With this bet, you have 6 different chances of winning and your payout would be 150:1. If you chose 123 a winning box could be 123, 213, 312, 231, 321, or 132 – six combinations. The payout is $150 for a $1 ticket. Since the prize for a straight Pick 3 win is $900 and you have six chances instead of just one, it is 900/6 = 150 to 1, or $150.
A 3-Way Box, Pick 3 requires two of the numbers to be the same such as 221, or 933. The results can come in any order but in this case, you only have three possible combinations so your payout would be 900/3 = 300 to 1 or $300 paid on a $1 ticket.
The point to keep in mind is that no matter which bet you choose, your payout percentage never changes compared to the odds. Riskier bets pay more, safer bets pay less!
The box bets work similarly for a Pick 4 game, but with an additional number, there are more possible combinations. The accepted box bets are 4-Way, 6-Way, 12-Way, and 24-Way with payouts as high as 2250 to one for the 4-way down to 375 to 1 for the 24-Way.
Lotto900 is a game unto itself that simply lets you choose which state lottery you want to bet on. You can also do a quick pick as you would at your local lottery retailer or kiosk. But, yes, in a sense, you can bet on any state’s Pick 3 or Pick 4 lottery results.
