College Football Specific Betting Tips

By: Richard Bleuze

There are plenty of obvious differences between college football and the PRO games.  The major difference is that the PROs get paid millions while the collegiates get paid nothing.  Please keep this in mind when you place a bet.  Anyways, another big difference is some of the betting strategies that are used for each game.  Thus, below are some college football specific tips that you should consider if you want to be a winner this season!

College Football Betting Tip #1 - Take advantage of the uncertainty that odds makers have in handicapping  college football games.  There are 119 Division 1-A NCAA football teams and thousands of players coming and going each year.  Thus, it is safe to say that the people deciding point spreads and the different bets for college football are a little overwhelmed.  Therefore, that's the perfect opportunity for the sports bettor to jump in and take advantage of soft lines before the odds makers push the action another way later in the week.   You, the sports bettor, should try to seek out games that may have weak lines due to the high turnover of players from one or both teams.

College Football Betting Tip #2 - Stick with betting on teams in areas that you know.  Sports bettors face the same problem that odds makers do in that there are so many teams across the country.  It is best to focus your betting efforts on the regions and teams that you know and watch.

College Football Betting Tip #3 - Avoid betting on college football games where the point spread is huge.  The college football season often sees traditional powerhouse teams taking on weaker opponents early in the season.  And with these seemingly one sided games, there is always the potential for a blowout as well as a huge point spread.  However, while there is a chance that a top ranked team will beat a team from a weaker conference, there is also the chance that the powerhouse will be out of syne and need to work out the kinks in their offense also.  This makes spreads that are huge very unattractive to sports bettors since they'll have a slim chance of covering the huge margin.
