Motives of sports bettors.

Millions of people watch and follow sporting events around the world where betting on the outcome of the event has now become an incentive for the viewer.  Cusumers choose to watch those sporting events that they can identify with relate to or gain something from.  Thus, the reason for betting on sporting events.

There are basically four types of sports bettors with motives I've found.  They are:
1.  Professional Sports Bettors
2.  Recreational Sports Bettors
3.  Risk Taking Sports Bettors
4.  Sports Bettors Who Bet Because Of The Game

Below are my take on each group:

1.  Professional Sports Bettors
This type of bettor looks for the value in the sporting event.  He doesn't bet on every game.  This person is betting because he wants to make money.  Thus, this person has taught themself different strategies that produce winning results.  This person searches for specific knowledge and information to find the value in a sporting event.  Thus, to this person, sports betting is a skilled game that allows the sports bettor to use his skills and capabilities to their own advantage by trying to create a steady profit.

2.  Recreational Sports Bettor
In this group, you will find the person who generally bets on the weekends or on his favorite team.  This person does not place big bets and could care less about their bet.  Generally, the recreational sports bettor cares about the sport and betting is just a reason to watch the game live or on TV. 

3.  Risk Taking Sports Bettors
In this group, you will find the sports bettors who do know alot about the sports and the various betting strategies.  However, this person is willing to take risks and chances just for the excitement of winning the game.  Unlike the professional sports bettor, this person could care less about the probabilities of the sporting event.  This person's goal is to win money.  This is the person that many publis officials think represents the sports bettor - pathological gambler!

4.  Sports Bettors Who Bet Because Of The Game
This person places a small bet on large odds and who enjoys watching the game with their friends and winning a bet every now and then.

Thus, if you are in groups 2,3, or 4, I might suggest that you either collect as many free picks in a certain sport as you can or purchase a handicapping service that does the work for you!
